Heart Surgery in Germany: Welcome to the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Klinikum Dortmund
Dear patients, dear Colleagues,
As a new director of the cardiac surgery department in Klinikum Dortmund and on behalf of my team, I would like to welcome you here and use this chance to introduce my team, our department, and myself. The cardiac surgery department in Klinikum Dortmund offers various surgical as well as interdisciplinary therapy possibilities, which are individually oriented to treating adults with heart problems and disease.
Our team of highly diverse and qualified specialists exert complete, approved and innovative methods of treatment in the areas of minimal invasive multiple bypass operations, the minimal invasive cardiac valve reconstructions, and the artificial heart therapy. In addition to that, my team of surgeons with long years of experience performs rare interventions such as the removal of infected pacemaker leads and the Ross operation in high quality standard.
We highly value the interdisciplinary teamwork and the patient-oriented therapy, in which my team and I discus the therapy possibilities together with the patients, the family of the patients, and in when needed with other specialists such as cardiologists. In the heart team meeting, we discuss the individual cases of each patient in details, in order to come up with the most favorable and suitable treatment method for the patient. Taking in consideration the long-term prognosis and the quality of life of the patient.
Because we highly encourage the uncomplicated and immediate support in urgent situations, and to facilitate the communication process, we have established the 24-hour hotline to reach a consultant at any time. Through this hotline, other doctors and specialists from different hospitals inside or outside Germany can reach us easily and in no time. Our main goal is to answer general questions regarding heart related problems, Operations’ appointments, and other issues related to the heart-team meetings. For other specialized issues and inquiries such as Pacemaker inquiries and lab results, please contact the outpatient clinic of the cardiac surgery department.
